8/5/18, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?

Hello, Everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful week and have plans to enjoy our last month of summer, for those of you in the northern hemisphere. Summer is nearing an end, so get outside and bask in the sunshine and nice weather!

When I lived in an apartment, I had more free time to enjoy summer days. Someone else was in charge of mowing the lawn, planting the flowers, pulling the weeds and, in the winter, shoveling the walks. My apartment was tiny so cleaning it was a breeze, if I even bothered. Since I lived alone, I had a high tolerance level for my dirt and my messes. I didn’t make a concerted effort to get to know my neighbors, though I did live near very nice people who always greeted me and wanted to know how I was doing.

In my book, Wherever Love Finds You, Ellora Duvall lives in a walkup but is so busy with work she doesn’t know too many of her neighbors. She has a big heart and when her neighbor, Samuel, across the hall breaks up with his fiancée, Nancy, Ellora’s willing to give him a shoulder to cry on. What starts out as a friendly talk turns into therapy with Samuel dropping by whenever he’s feeling blue. Because Ellora’s social life has gone from a big zero to a minus, she accepts Samuel’s offer to take her to dinner. Now that she has a decent job, she’s bought a lot of date dresses, but hasn’t taken the time to accept dates. During one of Samuel’s and Nancy’s breakups, Samuel invites Ellora to dinner at a restaurant where he used to take Nancy. Though Ellora is hesitant to enter the restaurant, Samuel reassures her they won’t see Nancy. When they broke up, he got this restaurant and she got the French restaurant on Eighth. But they do see Nancy and they see Nancy with Ellora’s ex—Zach Lowe!

How could a simple date turn Ellora’s entire life upside down? It’s easy when your neighbor is Samuel.

No matter where you live, get out and enjoy these amazing summer days! I hope you have a great week, and remember, lazing on the beach is a great time to dig out a romance novel and let it whisk you away to love and adventure.

Have a fabulous week!

Love,

Laura
